Celebrate: Rafael & Rachel

They say you can’t plan life, and for a planner, that can be pretty annoying when it comes true.  After being so excited to plan Rafael and Rachel’s September wedding in Seattle, it turned out I would be welcoming my own new addition to our family just 7 days before the wedding, making it impossible for me to travel across the country.  My heart broke at the thought of missing this day for two reasons: because I hate to disappoint anyone, and because these two amazing people are also family. Rafael is my cousin and there are only a few chances to get to plan and attend family weddings, and I did not want to miss this one!

I couldn’t have had a more gracious couple to not only be excited for me, but to completely understand that my physical presence on the wedding day wasn’t what makes the process a success.  So with that, the day was absolutely beautiful, with a trusted coordinator in place to execute this amazing day, I just wish we could have been there! So thrilled to welcome the beautiful, smart and funny Rachel to our family, Rafael knocked it out of the park with this one!

Beautiful Northwest

Love is a beautiful thing…especially when you’re lucky enough for it to find you the second time around.  That is what happened for Ruby and I was so excited when she asked me to come up to Seattle to help her plan her dream wedding.  Her first wedding, having been in her teens in Vietnam, wasn’t quite what she had always hoped it would be.  Not because she wasn’t in love, but because she was so young and didn’t know what life would bring.

This time around, she wanted a totally “American” wedding and wanted to incorporate every tradition she could for herself and her groom!  We made sure to get everything checked off her list, even when I had to explain to her what “something blue” meant and what a garter was.  Ruby was up for anything and was quite a delight in her mermaid dress, higher than high shoes and flowers galore.

I had such a fun time flying up and feeling a bit of fall.  The skies managed to hold back rain long enough for us to get some gorgeous water-front pictures.

June in Seattle

With Seattle weather, you never know what you’re going to get!  Okay, well that’s not exactly true.  You pretty much assume you’re gonna get rain, and become overjoyed when the clouds part and a little piece of sunshine heads your way.  Nothing could be more true of my trip to Seattle in June for the gorgeous wedding of Gabriela & Keith Northrup!

With showers all day before the wedding, miracles sent the sun and blue skies our way just hours before the wedding was to begin.  The bride was glowing, the groom was full of emotion and the bridesmaids had on gorgeous green to match the beautiful greenery surroundings. The wedding took place at the bride’s former high school where her father was the headmaster.  Going into retirement at the close of the 2012 school year, it was an emotional and unforgettable event for everyone!
