Celebrate: Baby Boys!

Since we told you recently that we’ve been out and about on the west coast, we thought we’d share a little peak into what we were up to!  It was overwhelming the amount of love that poured out to welcome Baby Logan this month, from Lake Oswego, Oregon and into the Bay Area, California, there was no shortage of love for a little guy that none of us have even met.

The first shower was a family affair and we felt so lucky to have loads of food and let my husband share in the fun stuff that is sometimes only around for us ladies to enjoy 🙂

And the second shower in Cali was a ladies only soiree!  With a Little Man theme and then a trip to the amazing Rachel Dunn Chocolate Factory, we had the best time creating our own Willy Wonka Chocolate experience!

Christina and Baby Lo

Indulge: July Summer Sips

Can you believe it’s already July? No matter where you are at, summer sun is shining and temperatures are going up! At CLD, we are cooling off with some of these awesome, refreshing drinks that feature in-season ingredients (with a non-alcoholic sipper for Christina, of course!).

Indulge and enjoy the heat!

Who doesn’t love fresh summer berries? And if you are going to drink wine in the heat, a great rose is the perfect pairing. After a few weeks in the Hamptons, these two ingredients came up all the time, so let’s marry the two! This drink was also inspired by the Mason Shaker’s “The Frenchie”

– A handful of your favorite berries (strawberries, raspberries, blueberries)

– A wedge of lemon

– 5 mint leaves

– A glass (5 ounces) of light rose wine)

Toss all ingredients in a shaker and muddle well. Add ice, shake and strain into your favorite wine glass. Top with extra berries and mint leaves.

Fresh Strawberry Lemonade

9c3c977e5e586e8d3c6061c4147c87c4Make this by the pitcher!

– 1 cup fresh lemon juice

– One cup simple syrup (infuse with mint or vanilla bean for extra yumminess!)

– 2 cups water

– 2 cups sparkling water or soda

– One pint strawberries, sliced

Add lemon juice, simple syrup, water and half of the strawberries to a pitcher and refrigerate for at least 2 hours to let strawberries infuse. When ready to serve, strain out the infused berries, add soda and fresh strawberry slices and serve.

Watermelon Cooler

839d788599cd8420ba2480dc4174546d– 1/2 cup watermelon juice

– 4 slices of cucumber

– 1/2 ounce lime juice

– A few mint leaves

– 2 ounces of vodka

– Sparkling water

Muddle cucumber, mint, lime juice and vodka in a shaker. Top with ice and watermelon juice and shake. Serve over ice and add sparkling water.

Enjoy those hot summer temps and these luscious drinks responsibly 🙂

Time Flies When You’re Having Fun!

Not sure if you noticed, but a little bit of time has flown by without a post from us!  So sorry to keep you hanging, but we’ve been working away between weddings and showers and soaring around the West Coast.  We have loads of pictures to come, so thanks for hanging with us as some of our fave photographers work hard to beautify their craft and get us pictures to die for!

In the meantime, it feels amazing to be back at home and away from the road for a few days!  I was so excited to come home last night to flowers all over my house from my husband and my favorite assistant Ike.  My office feels bright and cozy today and I’m ready to get settled in for the day!

Have a good week and check in with you soon!

Meet: Palm Springs!

So everyone knows how much CLD loves our Los Angeles office and everything SoCal has to offer, but lately we’ve noticed more and more interest in one amazing location that just a mere 2 hours away from our offices on the coast… Palm Springs! While many people equate Palm Springs as being a winter destination for those who live out of state (or as that crazy-hipster locale for Coachella), we can tell you that this valley has so much to offer! For anyone determined to have an outdoor wedding with a high guarantee of “perfect weather,” Palm Springs and the Coachella Valley is picture perfect for nearly 9 months out of the year (it’s just too hot out there in the summer… sorry!) Here is a cute little map to give you an idea of how much space there actually is out in “the desert”:

The most popular locale out here is definitely Palm Springs, but Rancho Mirage, Palm Desert, Indian Wells and La Quinta also offer a wide variety of venues for the perfect outdoor wedding. From golf courses, boutique hotels, casinos, luxury resorts, cute little B&Bs, this area can accommodate almost any type of wedding.  So without further ado, here is an introduction to a few fantastic venues to give you a taste of what we are talking about! The Parker Palm Springs, a fabulous hotel! Popular with celebrities seeking a retreat from the big city.

If you are considering a destination wedding, but don’t want to stray to far from Los Angeles, look no further than the desert!

Know: Regret

Yikes.  We all hate that word: regret.  It’s that agonizing feeling that looms in the back of our minds that we can’t quite shake.  It keeps us up at night, it makes us *wish* we could do something again.  You can only re-hash something so many times or annoy your bff with the same details so often if you want to keep her from sending you to voicemail.  So how do we live without regret?

Just like home insurance and car insurance and life insurance (ahem, and pet insurance … yep, Type A here).  We get these things to protect ourselves and loved ones in order to decrease our odds of the problems that could come ahead.  We had an awesome seminar from spokesperson from mywedding.com this month.  Being a medium for thousands of brides, it was great to hear him reiterate what we try so hard to tell our clients.  Hiring the right team will decrease your chances of regret.

So how do we do this when it comes to a wedding?  You hire a wedding planner.

The number one thing HE heard from clients was “I wish we’d spent more money on ___, it would have been worth it looking back”, or “If only I’d know, I would have ____”.  We’re not asking you to throw your budget out the window, and the catch 22 is you’re not supposed to know!  You’re busy with work and life and love, you’re not expected to know the whole wedding planning process when you’re only going to do it (hopefully!) once in your life.  That is why you need a team of professionals to help you.  That is our job, and we decrease your risk level when you hire the right team.

For whatever reason, a planner has the tag-line of “luxury item”.  Well, we disagree.  Do you want to be that person who finds out after their wedding that they should have hired someone to help?  Nothing is more painful for us than when we meet a newlywed and they say to us “it was so stressful and I didn’t really enjoy myself because I was so worried about ___”.  UGH.  If I’d have known then what I know now …

Well, this is us telling you!!!  You can’t claim no one has told you that you need a planner.  This day happens once.  You spend a lifetime thinking about it and up to a year getting details together for an event that takes 6 hours.  Is it really worth chancing it and looking back thinking “if only”?

Inspire: Red, White & Blue!!
